The Lafayette Place Improvement Association (LPIA) plans and implements various annual activities. The annual association dues fund these events and activities.
Dates for 2024 are:
Annual Association Meeting – Wednesday April 10 – Shawnee Branch Library, Noll Street at Calhoun. A flyer with detailed information will be placed on your front door by April 1, 2024. The Annual Association meeting is a great opportunity to learn about your neighborhood and ensure Lafayette Place continues to be a great place in which to live. Whether you’re new to the neighborhood, or a long-time resident, this meeting is important for you to attend. Your input matters!
Dirt Day – Saturday, May 25. 7 cubic yards of peat, sand and black dirt are divided among the north and south ends of the Esplanade and McKinnie Circle for residents use. One wheel barrel per household until noon, then unlimited amounts may be taken.
A Night of Music – This much anticipated event is scheduled for Saturday, July 20, 7pm to 10pm. This has become one of our most popular events. THE TODD HARROLD BAND will entertain at the Gazebo with 3 hours of great music, from R&B to soul, rock & jazz! Bring a blanket or a lawn chair & your favorite refreshments – it’s free and open to the public! The Hot Dog Boyz will again be selling great food – including hot dogs, nachos, ice cream & more!
Lafayette Place Halloween – Sunday October 27 – Many residents have complained that the majority of Trick or Treaters only go to houses on Lafayette Esplanade and don’t check out our many side streets. Some residents don’t get Halloween kids at all!
So, we’re proposing a fun solution. As you know, for many years, we have provided various Characters at the Gazebo for Halloween pictures with kids. So, we’re going to expand that to a “Trunk or Treat” type of event.
Now you’ll have a choice – you may continue to hand out candy from your house, OR you may bring your candy to the Esplanade area by the Gazebo & hand it out to the kids who are there to see the Characters. Feel free to dress in costume as you hand out treats!
There will be a specific area for this, so if you plan to participate this way, you must call Westley Falcaro at 456-1608 to get your name on that list so we can anticipate numbers and space allocations. Please call no later than Sunday, October 20.
The orange sheet we send out each year to show participation at your house will still be provided. This sheet is to be placed on your front door or a front window to let kids know they may come to your house for treats.
Trick or Treating 3-5pm / Pictures with Characters 4-5pm (weather permitting)
Christmas Decorating Contest – A new event just added in 2023 with beautiful results! You can see the winners and pictures in the Photo gallery on this website. Dates for 2024 will be posted in November/December Newsletters.
